Christy Hendrickson

Licensed & Certified Occupational Therapist

Christy Hendrickson, a licensed and certified occupational therapist with over 20 years experience working with children and families in the North Georgia area, is pleased to be joining Communication Station in Chatsworth, Georgia!

Christy specializes in partnering with parents and caregivers to discover how a child is “fearfully and wonderfully made” and how to help them fulfill their potential.

She is skilled in evaluating the occupations of children (play, learning, caring for self and participating in family and community) specifically:

Developmental stages,
Sensory processing impacts on learning and interacting,
Play and leisure pursuits,
Motor abilities,
Learning approaches and strengths
Daily living skills and routines (including specialty in feeding)

Christy values creating relationships with children and families to collaborate in setting goals, identifying the purposeful and meaningful activities that motivate a child, and inspiring an environment where the worth and growth of the child is affirmed. She is comfortable communicating in Spanish.

Additionally, Christy has homeschooled her 3 children for the last 12 years. She often says, “Parenting and homeschooling makes me a more empathetic therapist, and being a therapist has equipped me in supporting the learning of my own children.”

On the personal side, Christy loves spending time with her husband, Erik, and their children, Seth, Jakob, and Lyla, camping, gardening, watching soccer, playing with their Sheepadoodle, Rosco, and raising chickens. She enjoys exercising, reading, and cheesecake!
